A raid at an Alabama funeral home this week led to the arrest of three people and the discovery of approximately half a pound of methamphetamine, police said.
Agents from Jasper’s Narcotics Enforcement Team executed a search warrant on 175 Hwy 269, at the South Side Funeral Home.
At the funeral home, officers arrested:
•Kinte Gosha, 46, of Jasper, for drug trafficking (meth).
•Arthur McCollum, 48, of Jasper, for drug trafficking (meth). He was previously arrested in 2019 for drug trafficking.
•Odell Swain, 44, of Jasper, arrested for unlawful distribution of a controlled substance (meth). He is currently out on bond for an unlawful distribution charge from 2021.
“These drugs destroy homes, families and communities, and we remain committed to fighting this poison by targeting those who bring it into our city and sell it to our residents,” Police Chief J.C. Poe said. “I appreciate the help we received from District Attorney Bill Adair and his staff in this case. Now, we need assistance from local judges to keep these repeat offenders off the streets, and facilities to adequately house these inmates so that our state and county jails aren’t faced with releasing inmates due to overcrowding.”
