An Alabama law enforcement officer called Tuesday morning’s shooting on Interstate 65 a brazen act.
Two people were shot Tuesday morning while traveling southbound on I-65 South in Birmingham.
Officers responded to the shooting near the Fourth Avenue Exit at 9:50 a.m.
Sgt. Rod Mauldin reported that a male and a female were shot multiple times and rushed to UAB Hospital with serious injuries. The two were found in the vehicle after it crashed into a concrete barrier on the interstate.
Officials say they found multiple bullet holes in the vehicle.
Mauldin said the shooting appears to have happened not far from where the victims crash. Evidence of gunfire was recovered at the scene.
No suspects have yet been identified.
Mauldin called the shooting a brazen act and said they are lucky that no one else was hurt or killed on the heavily trafficked highway.
