One person is missing after a boat went over the dam on the Black Warrior River in West Alabama.
The boat carrying three passengers reportedly went over the spillway of the Oliver Lock and Dam Tuesday evening. All three boaters were submerged when the boat went over the dam but only two surfaced, officials said.
On Wednesday, rescue crews from four public safety agencies continued to search for the missing boater.
A Northport Fire and Rescue spokesperson says the missing boater is a woman and she is approximately 20 years old. Another woman and a man made it out of the water and they are okay, the spokesperson said.
Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue, Northport Fire Rescue and the police departments for Tuscaloosa and Northport were summoned at about 7:50 p.m. Tuesday to Oliver Lock and Dam on the call for a missing boater.
Wednesday morning, the search was still ongoing with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency in charge and Tuscaloosa police and firefighters assisting.
No other details have been released in the incident.
