An Alabama teen is in custody after deputies say she stabbed multiple family members, including an 18-month-old child.

The 13-year-old girl faces three first-degree assault charges, and a first-degree arson charge after Lawrence County deputies an 18-month-old, 8-year-old, and a 53-year-old woman all with stab wounds.

Deputies responded to reports of three people who had been cut or stabbed with a knife at a house on County Road 203 in the Speake community on Monday.

The 53-year-old woman is reportedly the adoptive mother of the 13-year-old girl who was arrested. The baby and child who were stabbed were the woman’s grandchildren.

The two children were transported to Children’s Hospital in Birmingham. The woman was transported to Huntsville Hospital.

Investigators also believe the 13-year-old suspect attempted to set fires using paper and a cigarette butt.

The 13-year-old girl is being detained at a juvenile detention facility.
