Alabama man charged with sexual torture of child

An Alabama man is being held on more than $200,000 bond after his arrest for sexual torture and child sexual abuse.
News sources report Christopher Deward James was arrested Friday.
Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and Trussville police obtained warrants against Christopher Deward James. The 36-year-old is charged with three counts of sexual torture and one count of sex abuse of a child under the age of 12.
According to charging documents, the same young girl is the victim in four alleged crimes. The sheriff’s office charged him for incidents that happened several years ago, while Trussville police charged him for crimes that happened on April 19 and Dec. 31, 2019, according to news sources.
Records state that James used an inanimate object to sexually abuse the girl on at least three occasions and also subjected her sexual contact. Additionally, he is charged with violating a court-ordered injunction on aggravating stalking.
James was booked into the Jefferson County Jail on July 31 and remains held on bonds totaling $225,000. This story will be updated if more information becomes available.
