Fingerprints have helped identify remains found in a closet of an abandoned home, authorities said Friday.

The remains found in Midfield are those of John “Cody” Argent, 32, who had been missing about a month, Al.com reported.

Police received a tip leading officers to the body Wednesday, Midfield police Chief Jesse Bell said.

Family members and authorities said they had not heard from Argent since Feb. 22. The last time anyone saw him he was getting off a bus in Midfield. Relatives reported him missing March 6.

An autopsy Thursday ruled out trauma or foul play, authorities said. The coroner’s office is still awaiting test results to determine how Argent died.
