Alabama man killed after colliding with fuel truck that burst into flames, state troopers said

An Alabama man was killed late Friday night when his pickup truck collided with a fuel truck which burst into flames, state troopers said.

The two-vehicle crash involving a commercial fuel truck occurred at approximately 11:55 p.m. Friday, and has claimed the life of an Autaugaville, Alabama, man.

Karlos D. Golson Jr., 33, was fatally injured when the 2000 Ford Ranger pickup he was driving collided head-on with the 2022 Peterbilt commercial fuel truck driven by Aaron E. Brooks, 37, of Montgomery.

Golson was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene. As a result of the collision, the Peterbilt caught on fire and became totally engulfed in flames. However, Brooks was able to safety exit the Peterbilt and was uninjured.

The crash occurred on Alabama 14 near the 144 mile marker, approximately five miles west of Prattville, in Autauga County.
