$20,000 reward offered in Mother’s Day murder, Alabama police say

Police are offering a $20,000 reward leading to the arrest of a suspect in the Mother’s Day shooting that left a 64-year-old Alabama woman dead in her home.

Montgomery police continue to investigate the May 12, shooting that left one victim dead on Mother’s Day.

Police are requesting the public’s help in identifying the suspect and are asking anyone with details or information to please come forward.

Investigators say on Sunday, May 12, 2024, at approximately 7:02 p.m., police and medics responded to the 4200 block of Cobbington Road, Montgomery, AL, in reference to a subject shot. Police say the victim was located at her residence. The victim sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased on the scene.

The victim was identified as Gloria Crews, 64, of Montgomery.

The circumstances surrounding this violent fatal shooting remain under investigation and no other details are available for release at this time. Investigators and family ask anyone who may have seen something or know something to please come forward.

Montgomery City Council members, Councilman Calhoun, Councilman Pruitt, and Councilman Mitchell have stepped in to show support in this ongoing investigation and are taking a stand against violence and are offering $15,000.00 toward the reward. Montgomery County Commissioner Ronda Walker continues to take a stand against violence and is offering a cash reward of $4,000.00 toward the reward.
