8-year-old Alabama girl shot twice, caught in crossfire as dozens of rounds shot, police say

An Alabama 8-year-old girl was shot in a shootout that police say included at least 70 rounds fired on Sunday night, police said.
Police said they believe the girl was traveling in a car with her family in the Gate City community of Birmingham when someone fired shots at the vehicle and struck her at approximately 9 p.m. Sunday.
Investigators said they believe no one in the car was targeted in the shooting, but instead were simply caught in the crossfire.
The girl was taken to Children’s of Alabama where she was last listed in stable condition with two gunshot wounds.
