Two people have been arrested after Alabama police say shots were fired Wednesday at a person on Interstate 65.
The shooting occurred at approximately 2:09 p.m. when Chilton County 911 dispatched Chilton County Sheriff’s Office deputies along with the Clanton Police Department to the area of Interstate 65 South and the 212 Exit (Rest Area) for a road rage incident involving shots fired, as reported by the victim.
The suspect and victim vehicles exited at the 212 Exit and turned southbound on Hwy 145, then right onto Bell Lane Road.
Investigators from the Clanton Police Department successfully stopped both vehicles in the 600 block of Bell Lane Road.
The occupants of the suspect vehicle were identified as Gary and Ashley Ledlow and were transported to the Chilton County Jail for questioning by investigators.
The victim sought medical treatment at St. Vincent’s Chilton for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound/graze to the neck/chin area.
Gary Ledlow and Ashley Ledlow have been charged with shooting into an occupied vehicle, Assault 1st and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
“It is unfortunate that individuals resort to firearm use in moments of anger, resulting in someone being shot,” Chilton County Sheriff John Shearon said. “Once a bullet is fired, its impact cannot be undone, affecting lives irreversibly.”
