A 58-year-old Alabama woman died in a weekend motorcycle wreck in Florida.
The Pensacola News Journal reports that the woman from Lillian, Alabama, was a passenger on the motorcycle when it left the roadway and crashed into a tree in a community north of Pensacola.
The Florida Highway Patrol reports that the accident occurred in the Ensley community shortly after 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
The motorcycle was being driven by a 72-year-old woman from Pensacola, who attempted to turn the bike but instead went over the shoulder of the roadway, crashing into a nearby row of trees.
The passenger from Alabama was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. She has not been identified, pending notification of family members.
The driver was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
