Greyhound bus crashes in Alabama, leaving 1 person dead, 9 others injured, state troopers say

An Alabama man was killed Monday night when his car was struck by a Greyhound bus, which flipped over after the collision, state troopers said.
The two-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 10:13 p.m. Monday, and claimed the life of an Ardmore, Alabama, man.
Sidney C. Benson, 23, was fatally injured when the 2023 Kia Seltos that he was driving was struck by a 2020 Greyhound bus driven by Toni E. Lopez, 63, of Old Hickory, Tenn.
After the initial impact, the bus left the roadway and overturned. Benson was not using his seat belt at the time of crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene, state troopers said Lopez was injured and transported by helicopter to Huntsville Hospital for treatment.
The passengers of the bus: Tina D. Ratcliff, 56, of Louin, Miss.; Kenneth C. Green, 41, of Florence; Ceara K. Finney, 36, of Tuscaloosa; Willie G. Miller Jr., 63, of Nashville, Tenn.; Tashae L. Brandberry, 23; Lacey J. Cantu, 36, of Moncks Corner S.C.; Dion L. Shelton, 54, of Lowndesboro; and Hope R. Knox, 37, of Myrtle, Miss., were all injured and transported to local area hospitals for treatment.
The crash occurred on Pinedale Road near Alabama 53, approximately four miles southeast of Ardmore, in Limestone County. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
