An Alabama police officer was indicted Friday on a charge that he sexually assaulted a woman during a traffic stop.
Lauderdale County Sheriff Joe Hamilton said in a written release that Killen police officer Jarrod Webster was charged with rape in the first degree and sodomy in the first degree.
The investigation began Sunday when a woman told officials at Crestwood Medical Center in Huntsville that she had been sexually assaulted by an officer with the Killen Police Department.
Hospital staff reported the accusation to the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office, sparking an investigation.
Investigators presented the matter to a grand jury that chose to indict Webster on the charges Friday.
Deputies have asked that anyone who has information on this specific case or who has experienced inappropriate actions by Webster is asked to contact the sheriff’s office or the FB.
