A man was found dead by Alabama firefighters Saturday after they extinguished the flames of a house fire, a coroner’s office official said Monday.

Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said the body of the man, identified only as an adult, white male, was located after Palmerdale Fire and Rescue crews extinguished a residential structure fire on Womack Road in Pinson, Alabama Saturday night.

The Alabama State Fire Marshall’s Office and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the fire and the man’s death.
