Authorities said a 9-year-old girl and her father were shot Friday night at an Alabama motel in what appears to be a robbery that turned violent.

The shooting happened at approximately 6:25 p.m., police said.

The two victims were found in a motel room.

The 9-year-old girl was reportedly shot in the stomach. She was listed in critical condition at Children’s Hospital.

The father was shot in the arm and was in stable condition.
