Police have not released the name of a woman found dead behind a Birmingham area high school early Sunday morning, but say they may have identified a suspect in the case.
Mountain Brook Police Chief Ted Cook said in a statement to Alabama news sources Monday morning that police believe the victim, who was found behind Mountain Brook High School, has been identified, however release of her name is pending confirmation by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.
The body of the white female victim was discovered around 4 a.m. Sunday near the athletic fields behind the high school.
Cook also said police have a possible suspect in the case, but no details about the suspect have been released, pending warrants.
Cook said information from the investigation indicates that the homicide was likely the result of a domestic violence incident. He added that there is no known threat to the public regarding the case.
