An Alabama man was killed Thursday when his motorcycle struck a ditch and flipped over, state troopers said.

The single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 11:29 a.m. Thursday, and claimed the life of a Nauvoo, Alabama, man.

Joseph K. McLendon, 56, was fatally injured when the 1986 Yamaha FZ600 motorcycle he was operating left the roadway, struck a ditch, and overturned.

McLendon was thrown from the motorcycle and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The crash occurred on New Oak Grove Road near Busby Church Road, approximately two miles southeast of Nauvoo, in Walker County.
