Seven months after murder victim found lying in road, Alabama detectives reach out to public for help

Alabama officials are appealing to the public for help seven months after finding a shooting victim lying in the road.
Birmingham detectives are appealing to the public for information regarding a homicide that occurred on Saturday, November 18, 2023, in the 2600 Block of Avenue C, resulting in the death of LaKevin Debruce.
At approximately 4:01 p.m., West Precinct officers responded to a report of a person shot at the intersection of 26th Street Ensley and Avenue C. Upon arrival, officers found an adult male lying in the roadway near a vehicle, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue Services arrived promptly and transported the victim to UAB Hospital. Despite their efforts, Debruce was pronounced dead at approximately 5:05 p.m.
Preliminary investigations indicate that someone in the area heard gunfire and saw the victim fall out of a vehicle onto the roadway, prompting a call to 911.
Currently, no suspects are in custody.
