Bicyclist struck, killed by pickup truck which veered off the road and burst into flames

A bicyclist was struck and killed Friday afternoon and the driver of the pick-up truck who hit him was also killed after the vehicle struck a tree and caught fire, Alabama state tropers said.
The single-vehicle crash involving a bicyclist occurred at approximately 1 p.m. Friday, claimed two lives. Carl R. Blewett, 54, of Kents Store, Virginia.
Blewett was fatally injured when the bicycle he was operating was struck by the 2009 GMC Sierra driven by Carroll R. Parker, 61, of Lynn.
The Sierra then left the roadway, struck a tree and caught fire.
Blewett and Parker were both pronounced deceased at the scene. The crash occurred on U.S. 278 near the 10 mile marker, approximately one mile east of Hamilton, in Marion County.
