An Alabama high school student was arrested Monday after allegedly making terroristic threats against the school.
School officials at Elmore County High School said the student was arrested after he reportedly made an open threat in a classroom and then told administrators he had a firearm in his vehicle.
“A 19 year old student made a threatening statement in class,” Elmore County Sheriff Bill Franklin said. “They were questioned by a school administrator.”
School superintendent Richard Dennis said the school maintained a normal routine after the threat was defused and handed the investigation over to law enforcement.
Franklin said the student admitted to school administrators and the school resource to making the statement, according to law enforcement. The school resource then told the student he was going to search his belongings.
“The student said he had a firearm in the vehicle,” Franklin said.
