Six Jewish groups in Alabama received an emailed bomb threat Saturday morning, a regional Jewish organization reported.
Temples in Dothan, Selma and Montgomery along with the Jewish Federation of Central Alabama in Montgomery, Agudath Israel Etz Ahayem in Montgomery and Congregation Beth Shalom in Auburn were targeted with the emailed threat.
Only one of seven Jewish entities in central Alabama did not receive the email, Hillel in Auburn.
Phillip Ensler, the executive director of the Jewish Federation of Central Alabama, said in a social media post that the three temples had been cleared by local K9 police units.
“The actual threat level was deemed low from but we must always respond out of an abundance of caution,” Ensler said. “We will continue to remain vigilant and please know that we will continue to work to keep our community safe. Law enforcement is investigating the culprit behind these emails.”
