Alabama Skies: Tornadoes confirmed during severe weather event

The severe weather event we watched several days last week caused some trouble across Alabama Saturday night, especially in the Birmingham Metro.
The National Weather Service confirmed at least two tornadoes touched down.
The first twister was an EF1 with 100 mile per hour winds that struck near Lakeshore Parkway from Wildwood to Samford. The second tornado, an EF1 with winds of 90 miles per hour, touched down near Brookwood Mall into Cahaba Heights.
The NWS plans to survey more damage in Lee and Barbour counties this week.
Our weather will be much calmer for the next several days. We’ll see plenty of sunshine with seasonable temperatures across most of the state.
