Two Alabama brothers who had been reported missing earlier this week were found Wednesday dead inside a vehicle in a wooded area, sheriff’s deputies said. Exactly what happened to the pair remains a mystery.

Winstone County Sheriff’s Office deputies reported Thursday that brothers Rico Tannehill, 28, and Braxton Thomas, 30, who were last seen on Sunday in Haleyville, were found dead Wednesday in Winston County.

Investigators said the two were found inside a vehicle in a wooded area near County Road 17.

No additional information about how the brothers died was released.
