An Alabama man was killed Saturday after his SUV veered off the road and struck a tree, state troopers reported.

The single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 9:20 p.m. Saturday, and claimed the life of a Pine Hill man.

Zechariah Jones, 46, was fatally injured when the 2004 GMC Yukon he was driving left the roadway and struck a tree.

Jones was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The crash occurred on Wilcox County 30, approximately 10 miles south of Pine Hill, in Wilcox County.
