An Alabama 8-year-old boy was killed Saturday in an apparent accidental shooting, a TV station reported.

The boy was shot and killed in Franklin County, Alabama, after he and his 4-year-old brother found a gun that had been taken out of a vehicle, WHNT-TV reported.

The boys apparently were handling the gun in a bedroom when the gun fired, striking the 8-year-old.

The boy was taken to a local hospital, then flown to Birmingham, but died of the gunshot injuries.=
