A 12-year-old Alabama boy was shot and killed Saturday.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office investigators said the shooting happened just after midnight in the 300 block of Oxford Acres Circle.

Arriving deputies said they found the critically injured boy and began life-saving measure. The boy was transported to Children’s Hospital but died of his injuries.

Additional details of the shooting, including the name of the victim were not immediately released.
