An overnight robbery near Birmingham prompted a manhunt that included multiple police and a helicopter and ended with an arrest early Tuesday.
A holdup was reported about 3 a.m. at a convenience store in Hoover, and police in neighboring Vestavia Hills caught up with a vehicle after a lookout was issued, news outlets reported.
Police tried to stop the car, but the driver refused and abandoned the vehicle in an apartment complex before running into woods near Interstate 65.
Polices converged on the scene and brought in a helicopter and dogs to aid in the search. A suspect was arrested about 6:30 a.m., authorities said, and video showed a man wearing handcuffs being led through a group of officers.
There was no immediate word on the man’s name or any charges.
