Alabama authorities believe a domestic dispute played a role in a car chase and head-on collision that killed three adults and an infant Sunday night.

The crash occurred at approximately 6 p.m. Sunday on U.S. 45. in Saraland.

A preliminary investigation by the Saraland Police Department found that “excessive speed and a domestic violence situation were contributing factors in the crash.”

Police say Towanda Ofield, 39, from Chunchula, was chasing a vehicle when she struck an oncoming vehicle.

The vehicle was occupied by Jerry Dunn, 28, and Alexis Dunn, 21, both from Millry and the couple’s infant child.

All four people involved in the collision were pronounced dead at the scene.
