Investigators say that Pearce was hauling a load of automobiles on I-65 south when a multi-vehicle crash caused his vehicle to careen off of the I-65 exit ramp, falling about 25 feet onto I-59/20 northbound below.
Pearce died at the scene. The fatal crash remains under investigation.
Pearce’s wife, Marti, is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads the identity of the driver who fled the scene after the crash. Crime Stoppers is also offering up to $5,000 so the total reward could be as high as $10,000.
One other person was transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
