It alls started with a hamburger — one juicy beef patty topped with onions, pickles on a toasted premium artisan bun. Oh and don’t forget the secret sauce that is still a secret 60 years later.

On Tuesday, Nov. 17, Jack’s will celebrate 60 years of serving customers by doing what is does best — serving up hamburgers for $1.

The small walk-up hamburger stand that started in Homewood Alabama in 1960 has now grown to 200 locations in four states and is still serving the burgers, fries, shakes and sodas Alabama residents have grown to love.

The chain will celebrate with a special event starting at 2 p.m. at the original Homewood location at 2831 19th St. S. in Birmingham, but will offer $1 burgers at all of its locations in Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi and Tennessee.

Customers can visit any Jack’s location from 2 p.m. to close to take advantage of the $1 burger offer.
