Man reportedly shot to death while walking his dog Monday morning

The Birmingham Police Department is investigating the shooting death of a man who was reportedly walking his dog early Monday morning.

Officers responded to a 911 call at approximately 1:30 a.m., reporting a single gun shot fired in the 900 block of Beacon Parkway East in South Birmingham.

While patrolling the area, officers discovered a male victim in the parking lot with a gunshot wound. The victim was taken by Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service to UAB Hospital’s Trauma Center where he was later pronounced dead at 2:36 a.m.

Birmingham investigators believe the victim was walking his dog when he was approached by the unknown suspect. An altercation reportedly took place before the suspect fired a gun.

No arrests have been made.
