Looking for one of the best hot dogs in America? For those who live in Shelby County, you won’t have to travel far, as a local Pelham eatery was recently awarded the title of No. 1 hotdog in Alabama by a travel website who specializes in the best food destinations around the world.
Big 7 Travel recently compiled a list of the Best Hot Dogs in America and for the state of Alabama, the travel website awarded Tony’s Hot Dogs of Pelham with the title of Best Hot Dog.
Located at 1922 Montgomery Highway, Tony’s Hot Dogs recently celebrated their 26th anniversary on Oct. 28, as the restaurant is owned and operated by Joseph Tortomasi and his wife Misty.
Tony’s Hot Dogs is considered one of the top 50 hot dogs in America as Big 7 Travel chose one top hot dog restaurant or stand from each state.
On compiling a Best Hot Dog list, Big 7 Travel said, “while a hot dog in its simplest form is incredibly simple there is a new breed of passionate foodies across the country reinventing it with imaginative toppings. The list also features some of the classic joints and small stands that have been cooking them for decades. In short, there is something here for everybody.”
Citing why Tony’s is the best, Big 7 Travel said, “The hot dogs at Tony’s are famous all over Alabama, and it’s not hard to see why. Their tasty chili slaw dogs are doused in delicious chili and smothered in delectable toppings.”
