Police identify homicide victim as Alabama college professor
An Alabama college professor was identified as the victim of a Wednesday homicide.
Mobile Police say the dead man discovered by University of South Alabama Police doing a welfare check on the victim was identified as Matthew Wiser, 39, who worked at the university as an associate professor of economics and finance.
When officers arrived at the house, they found Wiser dead inside. Investigators said he had been shot.
USA’s website lists Wiser as having multiple graduate degrees from Louisiana State University and an undergraduate degree from the University of Rochester.
